A Journey Through Unknown Worlds...

Where silence speaks.jpg

Where Silence Speaks’ marks the first truly new album from Elbereth's Grace with our new lineup. It features 10 brand-new songs, plus a newly recorded version of an older track.

On this page, you’ll find important background information about each song, helping you distinguish between the worlds of Middle-earth and Nyrassar and understand who each song is about.

"Lord of Fire" is the first song on the album. It’s a song about a dragon, known in the chronicles of Nyrassar as Rhazgal. He first appears in the story of Eruviel. Rhazgal is the father of all dragons, even though he is not a flying dragon. He is incredibly large and malevolent, comparable to Glaurung from Tolkien’s tales. The song vaguely hints at what might happen over time—whether the forests of the Elves will burn, or the kingdoms of the Dwarves fall into the hands of fire. All of this remains uncertain, and the song does not reveal whether fire ultimately triumphs or is defeated.

"Rise!" was the first single we released. It tells the story of Lóthienar, one of the goddesses of Nyrassar. Her essence is deeply connected to the world, to nature, and to all living things. She feels every worldly pain as if it were her own. The song depicts a scene at the dawn of all days, a moment when the world was first built and brought into being. But this beautiful moment was shattered when Malrik, the dark brother, destroyed the newly created world out of wrath and jealousy. What had once flourished and thrived was reduced to ashes. This rage struck Lóthienar so violently that she nearly fell into death. Yet life returned to her, and the first great resistance against the darkness awoke in the world. Lóthienar rose, struggled back to her feet, and vowed relentless resistance!”

"Banner des Lichts" is one of two German songs on the album. The song is a hymn praising Ayra, the Sky Mother. She represents the highest command in Nyrassar, the mother of all that is and is not, comparable to Iluvatar in Tolkien’s world. It’s a celebration of the beauty of the world, of the freedom of the peoples. It’s a tribute to light and unity - a completely positive song. The track features an absolutely magnificent chorus, a wonderful dynamic, and we love it very much!

"Bane of Darkness" is an absolutely epic song. It tells the story of Fendril, an Elf who appears again and again in the chronicles of Nyrassar. Against her will, she becomes a heroine. When she was still a child, the Dark Ruler launched his first assault on the Free World, and an army of Orcs and worse creatures overran her city. Just as fate seemed sealed, little Fendril struck from hiding and slit the throat of the captain - a demigod. The other warriors were so shocked and left without leadership that they fled and were almost all slain. Hundreds of years later, Fendril faced a Balrog in battle and killed it with her sword  - an almost unbelievable feat. Yet she was grievously wounded in the fight. Fendril is a true heroine, not one of gold and glitter, but an honest, unassuming Elf with a pure heart, in whose veins the Light itself pulses.

"Burn!" is a song of fire and death. It tells of the Morrogs, beasts of flame, born from endless agony, from torture and pain. They were created by the Dark Lord to wipe out the Free World. They know no mercy, no compassion - only mockery and scorn. On the battlefield, they are almost impossible for Elves and Men to defeat… almost, yet it is still possible. A song about creatures whose origin is as horrific as their presence on the battlefield.

"Lead Us Home" was the second single we released. It is the ballad on this album - a beautiful acoustic song, the first of its kind in over 25 years of the band’s history. The song is about the longing to come ‘home,’ to arrive at a place where you truly belong, where heart and soul can find a home. It reflects the Elves’ desire for the West; for the Elves of Nyrassar, it may also be the East. I believe everyone has their own homeland, their own longing, a personal need. To arrive, to feel at home, is something deeply important - especially in a time when more and more people are being uprooted by war, hunger, or natural disasters. We hope that all of you will find your place…

"We Are the Storm" is a tribute to courage and perseverance, told from the perspective of the warriors who stand guard at the borders of the Dark Realm. For hundreds of years, they endure the darkness beneath the enemy’s black clouds, knowing that it is about more than themselves - it is about the freedom of the entire world. They are the bulwark, the first and last line of resistance against the hatred and rage that lie in wait and grow stronger each day. But the warriors on this front are the very best, blessed by the gods, and they place their trust in the Light!

"Song of the Galdrim" is a song about the guardians of the forests of Nyrassar - ancient beings who resemble trees, much like the Ents in Tolkien’s stories. They are as old as the world itself. The song tells of their pain and sorrow as the world becomes more and more settled, of the dying and the felling of trees that shakes them to their very core. Slowly, they withdraw and seem to leave the world to its fate. The song can also be understood as a warning for our own world, inviting us to question whether we want to continue on this path, or whether protecting the environment and the climate might be the wiser choice. For who knows what will happen to the world when the last Galdrim dies…

"Du bist der Sturm" is a song of hope and confidence. Its message is: ‘Even when everything seems dead, the good will rise again.’ Symbolically, like a tree rising from the ashes, firmly rooted, it holds fast and withstands every storm. The good is like a phoenix, always rising again, even in the darkest places. So do not despair—you too can be the tree, the phoenix. You can bring others with you on your path. Be the storm!

"Thousand Voices" is a mysterious song about a secretive tree called Sîlrandor. It is one of several hidden trees in Nyrassar. Sîlrandor has a translucent trunk, like glass, within which lights pulse like stars, and it possesses mysterious properties. It was planted at the dawn of all days by the gods themselves. Today, it can be found in the forest of Nal Doroth - if you know where to look… Are you ready for this journey full of secrets?

"Where Silence Speaks" is the title track of this album. It carries an almost spiritual message and completes the album, as well as everything that Elbereth’s Grace stands for. ‘I am the spark, you are the flame’ - this is the call of the hour. Believe in yourself, trust in the Light. Always listen carefully to what the voices whisper to you. Listen also to what the Silence within you speaks, and do not let your senses be clouded. Have faith in yourself and in what guides you… Ayra watches over you too.

"Valinor’s Light" is a new version of the song originally featured on the 2013 album ‘The Sadness of Fallen Leaves.’ We made only minor adjustments. We hope you enjoy this new version!
